Random Gem Brainstorming
I'm going to throw out some key words here and I want people to free- associate what effects they might have in the game in reference to original gem effects/properties/mechanics/interactions. Use your imaginations.

To be honest, most of these ideas seem group oriented o.O Oddly enough, but that's what I got from the names.
Resonance and Dissonance sound kind of like they could be group-oriented aura gems... possibly something like... Resonance would make you draw gems a certain % faster depending on how many group members there are? Like 0% if you're solo, 10% if you've got 1 other member, 25% if there's 3? And Dissonance... would disrupt the enemy's gem abilities somewhat, either mitigating the damage a percentage based on group members, or causing it to completely fizzle sometimes. Idunno. Just what came to mind when I saw those.
Dunno what to do with Dominant/Submissive...
Symbiosis: Can't think of a color for it, but... Maybe an aura gem that either boosts your stats based on other group members' classes, or gives you a slight bonus depending on groups' classes (for example, if you're grouped with a Vamp and have the Symbiosis gem, you get a minor lifeleech added to your attack, like 1/10th the strength of the actual Vamp's? etc.)
Lattice: This sounds like... Maybe white or Grey magic. Aura gem that slightly boosts magic defenses, or single-use gem that moderately/greatly boosts magic defense (or adds damage reduction) to direct damage gems for a short while, for all group members...
Fusion, Anti, Core, and Branch are all giving me nothin'.
Wall: Similar to Lattice, aura gem or single-use-group-AOE that boosts defenses or grants DR towards physical damage.
Opener -> Linker -> Ender: C-C-C-C-COMBO ATTACKZOMGWTFBBQ? All relatively weak direct damage gems, but if Opener and Ender are used in order (with any number of Linkers in between) then an aftereffect of either a debuff, DOT, or massive damage occurs. Combo can be used by separate group members, as long as it goes Opener to [optional linkers] to Ender. Effect strength obviously proportional to how many Linkers are used.
Scry: Allows you to see the numerical value if your enemy's HP-EN-MP and/or their in play gems.
Kinesis: No clue
Stasis: Grey magic, can be cast on self or group members to make players completely invulnerable but unable to act for a brief period. Unable to even draw or place gems during this period, as well.

Resonance / Dissonance
Gems with Resonance have their effects increased if the effects of another Resonant Gem are active.
Gems with Dissonance have their effects decreased if the effects of another Dissonant Gem are active.
Dominant / Submissive
The effects of Dominant Gems cannot be resisted.
The effects of Submissive Gems cancel out as soon as a Dominant Gem is activated.
Symbiosis
Effect unique to Green Magic Gems.
A Gem with Symbiosis adds its effect to any other Green or White Magic Gem you or any of your allies uses in battle, at no additional cost.
Lattice
This gem's effect becomes stronger the more times you use it in battle.(capping at triple power effect)
Fusion
(left blank; lack of ideas)
Anti
Effect unique to Black Magic Gems.
Anti- gems block the effects of a certain type of other gem in battle for X seconds. The strongest of the Anti-effects are Aura Gems.
That's about it for now. If I come up with more ideas, I'll let you know!

Well, maybe different names could work out for some of my ideas.

Ressonance could be a kind of gems that has a weak base effect, but with added effect if you have certain gems - described in the gem effect.
Example: Red Gem that deals 1 to 5 damage, plus 1 for each Red Direct Damage Gem in play.

Dissonance could be a kind of gems with a powerufl base effect, but each gem of a certain type that is in play (from anyone) reduces its effect.
Example: Black Gem that deals 1 to 10 damage, minus 1 for each 2 White Gems in play.

Submissive could be a kind of gems that benefits whoever meets certain conditions.
Example: Whoever has more than X mana, or energy, or gems of a certain type in play, gets their damage increased by Y.
If 2+ players are tied they could both get benefitted, or maybe none.

Dominant could be a kind of gems that only benefits whoever has the most of something.
So if it is a "buff" it buffs the one that matches that condition.
If it has a one-shot effect, it only works if you match that condition.
Example: Most mana, most energy, etc.

Defiant could be a type of gems that only works when you have the least of something.
Like least health, least mana, etc...
The rest is like Dominant.

Symbiosis could be gems that work in pairs. (Do not work otherwise).
So if they are "click to use, one shot gems" you need to draw and "hold" one, then draw another to use its effect.
These gems would need to be powerful at higher levels, due to the big number of pouch slots as well as the limit of 3 gems of same type.

Sacrifice can easily relate to the use of health additionally to the gem effect.

Fusion can be gems that add temporary elemental properties to armor or weapon.
But since seem to be no elemental properties in this game, but rather, magic "types", I don't see this working out - conceptually.

Lock - Blue magic, single use, prevents your opponent from using or drawing Gems for a short time. (Auto-attack still works)
Blind - Blue magic, single use, prevents your opponent from auto-attack/shot for a short time. (Can still use Gems)
Hidden/Surprise - YOU'VE ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD HAHA! Single use 'Passive' Gem like auras - doesn't need to be activated, but rather than being a constant effect, it goes off if certain conditions are met (for example, being hit with a melee/ranged attack, being hit with a Direct Damage spell, being hit with a DOT, etc.)
Sacrifice - Black magic, single use, no mana or energy cost - rather, you spend a portion of your HP to do significant damage to your opponent.
... which prompted me to think of:
Martyr - White magic, single use, no mana or energy cost - spend a portion of your own HP to heal an ally.
Erase - Green or Grey magic, single use, removes a single debuff.
Devour - Black or Red magic, single use direct damage and you regain Mana or Energy proportional to how much damage you do.
Forget - Single use Blue or Grey magic, removes 1 or All of your opponents' in-play gems.
Trigger - Can't think of anything
Reprise - Aura gem, when in play it gives you a chance to automatically retaliate against an opponent's gem with the same effect they cast on you.
Echo - Aura gem, when in play it gives you a chance to cast a gem's effects twice.
Zodiac - Single-use high damage AOE Direct Damage gem with a DOT added effect - the catch is it requires something like 30 Black-Red-Blue-Grey-Green-White magic, or maybe a high combined Magic skill total with at least 3 different colors?
