1h staves (wands)
We've all seen Harry potter, lord of the rings, etc etc. There are one handed staffs (called wands) out there! They arent really melee weapons in the least, unless you want to poke eyes out or hit people like a total flamer *flamer voice* "EXCELSIOR! I shall scratcheth thee!!".
Wands would have significantly less magic damage, 1/2 or less effects than 2h staffs with all magic skills. Obviously cater tanks would NOT be hitting for huge crits.
Just another build, diversity is what nod should be about, since graphics and hardcore gameplay is not Nods frontline selling point. Gotta sell something aside from the community of awesome poeple like me :P

Dang flippy, you beat me to this idea. Since thd dmg would be non-existant, i think 60% of 2h staff bonuses would be acceptable, or a really high bonus but being unable to equip anything in the other hand (to prevent wand + sheild pwnage). Maybe a high cnc boost due to the focus through a 1h weapon.

Fully support. Would you be forced to use a shield with your 1h wand? Dual wield wand may get a bit... strange

yes, shield ofc, like a caster tank. No real huge dd hits but the ability to last some time while casting.

Sounds excellent. I'd even give up the ability 2 equip a shield if i got a higher hit %, maybe make DEX a factor in casting with wands? I would jump on that train in a heartbeat.

ok i like the idea of wands but shields shouldnt be allowed or if they are autoattack should be disabled...for wands add a new style called autocast and have their damage based off of int...relatively high delays due to the gem bonus also...dw should be an option no matter how awkward it seems...the reason im against shields is casters are made for DPS its obvious so if they could tank it would only end in an OP class

This has been suggested a couple times before. I would love to see other options as builds, but iirc this one was shot down a while back, so I dont see it happening. :\

i think it should be more like 40% of caster skills or alternately just make a lot of the skills 2h staff only.
it would allow for hybrid build types like 1h crush and wand which would be fun

This would be best if the 1h staff can be combined with anything, creating lots of new builds.
Weapon and wand, double wands, wand and sheild, even wand and whip can all be used.
All require new stat builds.
It would be a lot of work to balance out the 4 new builds though.
Another idea: a whole new skill category that has skills that get more effective the less armor(including potions/runes) is worn. Not just for casters, you could play lightly armored variations of all current builds and you would have to figure out how little armor is the best option.

i dont like it.
think of it like this:
staves are classed as crush weapons.
now picture someone with a 1h wand, and a 1h crush (say the 89).
someone would have the benifits of the crush, PLUS the benifits of a caster.

it's not a melee weapon really, about as useful as hitting someone with a chopstick. What do you think it's a tree trunk?

no im saying as a caster, you can train skills for the staff to use the crush benifits.
with this suggestion, they would be able to still get those benifits, plus use a real crush weapon with those benifits, PLUS cast still with the caster bonuses

yeah but it would be used to help with casting, and then cause its 1h, you still have the other hand for a crush weapon.
could you imagine a capped caster, say san, getting like 60% of the casting damage he currently does (still crits of over 1500) PLUS using a 89 epic crush??
