Default Firewall trouble

I can't login through our firewall. If I bypass the firewall, once I get logged in, I can then play through the firewall.

Is there some odd ports that are being used for the java load?

The java client establishes a standard SSL connection to the server.

Are there any sites besides "*.nodiatis.com" that need lower security?
Also, how about the "Updating Announcements" section? it currently is stuck at loading. I'm assuming the game isn't currently down though.

It probably has something to do with a communication that takes place when it verifies the authenticity of our SSL certificate. Perhaps if you added *.geotrust.com as well.

Well... I still get the message that Java isn't loaded, but now the login screen actually loads. Still can't login though. Says it needs the announcements to update.

It's definitely something firewall related. If I plug in my cell phone and use that for internet access, I have no problems at all. I can then disconnect the phone and play normally.

Still just sticks at the Logon screen "waiting" to update the announcements.

What kind of overzealous firewall are you running? Are you trying to play at work?
Make sure you have ports 80 and 443 open, 80 is for normal web pages 443 is for SSL.

Hehe. Yep, it's at work.
80 and 443 are open. The proxy goes through 8080. I can play fine once I get logged in, it's just not letting the Announcement updates through. (Which keeps the Submit button greyed out.)

Is there some other site or port that the Announcements use?
I have no problems with RWK.

There's no way for me to tell what client port your computer is using to initiate the SSL connection to the server, but the server is definitely using 443. The java applet does not give me control over such things.

This has me stumped. It's just stuck at the login screen. Is there some protocol it uses for verification? Maybe it tries to ping or something? Is the IP for that static? Maybe I can just add in rights for that IP.

All it's doing is establishing an SSL connection to nd1.nodiatis.com
If the firewall is blocking client ports then you're probably out of luck since there's no way for me to know what port is being used on your computer to communicate with port 443 on the server.

There was an unrelated issue that could have been causing the problem. It had to do with the server rejecting IP addresses in certain formats and your work firewall could have been causing this IP formatting. Let me know if it works now.

Still no luck. I'll try some other things.
