Archer build question
I'm looking for opinions on the best way to build an archer. So far I'm doing the following per level:
Melee- 0/2/1, Magic - 0/3/0, Defense - 1/0/2 & 2/0/1, and Recovery - 1/1/1
For gems, I use 2x Gaia's Blessing, Gem Haste, Sloth, & Auras of Lucidity, Stoic, & Focused
All of my skills, including Beast Mastery and the three magics, are at or above my level

All melee points go to Dexterity
Magic is fine
Defense should be 2 agi 1 dur
ignore recovery
you should mainly focus on healing using gaia gems.
However, using the new black auras is useful, especially since you put your points into CNC.
Someone else can give you the more detailed specs as to what you should do.

Are you saying to just skip leveling recovery? Won't that make the leveling process longer overall?

Not leveling recovery allows for more points to be used to further enhance your build to allow you to take on higher level mobs and players.

Hurry up and level everything. Then redistribute when you get to lv 70.

I find recovery to be pretty useful in the leveling up process. It makes you waste less RT. At the cap (lvl 70) though you can max out your char and recovery becomes less important as your gear is stronger, your skills are higher, etc ... you take less damage and your fights are faster.
I disagree with the only dex for melee. When you fight mobs at your level or max 1-2 above your level, having approx 250 dex is enough. Me and others (such as hidden) haven't noticed any significant hit ratio difference vs having 350-400 dex. Meaning due to having a good cnc, as an archer you can put some points into pst as well to boost your energy, and use energy consuming DD or DOT gems. It will boost up your dps.

i have to agree with zenga.. Albeit recovery points may take away from other skills, they play a big role in monster fighting. It means little that you can kill a monster, if you must spend more than 1 minute 30 seconds trying to regenerate.

also if you are building for a PVP character for defence 1/0/2 is the best way to go but if going fora PVe char 2/0/1 is probably better

As long as you have a high impedance and your respective magic color skills are high(as each point provides some resistance) you should only need about 150 CNT.

n00b question here-
Do you guys simply put up with/ignore the huge frikkin'
"Warning, your Contravention is low, blah blah something level up Defense something something points in Contravention" message you get every time a fight starts, or do you put just enough points in it to keep the message away?

I don't get that warning anymore, I forget what the criteria that makes it stop displaying is. I'm sure someone will find the link for that.

I won't give away all my secrets but I'll tell you this.
Int and Cnc are equally important. Same goes for Agi and Cnt. I've played around with the stats and keeping them equal is more important then having high Dur. On that note, I use +Dur/-Str enchants on all my equipment. And if I had to do it over again I would have concentrated all in White Magic instead of white/green. I also keep a handful of resistance auras.

What level are your toons, tai?
Cnt doesn't really start doing anything until ~lvl 25-30 imo.

I have a level 47 archer. Based on previous comments like this, I have tried all INT & all CNC builds. There was no visible change in bow damage.
