TC restriction
A post I made in reply to this thread. And reposting this as an idea/suggestion:
I believe that people that spend real money on TC's should have the freedom to determine their own price. The market (supply and demand) will correct that anyway.
On the other hand, I don't think it's the goal of the tc's that some players screw the market with speculating: buy TC's with ingame gold and resell them later on the AH (we've seen what it did irl with the stock market and the oil industry).
To get rid of the TC speculation there is a very simple yet effective rule that could be implemented: you can't sell a tc for a higher price than you bought if for.
This would cause that:
- tc speculation is no longer possible
- TC buyers with irl money keep their freedom to list them for the price they want
- there will be cheap tc's available all the time (people who bought some tc's from the AH a while ago but need urgently some money, will only be able to sell them for the price the bought it for)
There are means enough to make money in the game with crafting, enchanting, resourcing, selling trophies, armorcrafting, etc etc ... TC's don't fit in this row at all).
(ps, this idea was based on another idea from blitzx, so should credit him for 20% :P )

Support This Idea 100%, Even Though I Do Still Like My Idea Mate
This Is Why I Support It (Mainly For Jeff To Know)
I Use To Purchase A Heap Of TC's With Real Money, And Sell/Trade Them Whatever, But Now I Will Not Do This As I Am Not Going To Help Support The Greater Community Of Nod To Keep Getting Screwed By Resellers Buying The Cheap And Jacking The Price Up.
If You Put Some System In Place To Stop The Current Situation I Am Sure The Market Will Become More Open To Everyone And The People Who Purchase Large Amounts Will Continue.
(p.s FU only 20%??? )

Absolute worst idea ever!!!!!
Why try to regulate the invisible hand of supply and demand economics.
Zenga we all know that you charge an arm and a leg for your epics anyhow so stop whining about tcs. Its simple economics and the fact that the game generates more gold than it takes in causes items to cost more gold than they did when the game was first introduced.
btw.... you wont see my characters selling TCs ( i only buy them)

Tyrannius: the Current Situation is not supply and demand though.
If there was and full market of tc's say 50 and they were all similar high price and sold by many sellers fine, I might agree, but the current situation is a very small sell base (maybe 2 or 3) who keep buying the cheap tc's and selling them at a higher price, that is not supply and demand, That is profiteering

Blitz, it is actually a great example of supply and demand.
1. There is no other bulk supply or the high prices would not sell.
2. If there was a great supply, the buyers that resell would eventually run out of gold to buy to resell leaving them with a large inventory of TCs they would have to take a loss on.
3. Demand is high causing others to buy TCs at 70kish which only exaggerates the problem by putting more gold into the resellers' pockets to buy low and sell high.
Supply and demand

i see your points and yes they are valid,
but the reason there is no supply is because nobody wants to put tc's on the market for the resellers to buy them and sell them high, most people are keeping them off the market for private sale only.

This idea has nothing to do with the current situation (if there is a supply or not available). This idea just gets rid of the TC speculation. Because TC speculation has nothing to do with the game. Gold, epics, armor, weaps, stones, etc ... I qualify that as ingame stuff. TC's are a means to obtain upgrades (premium, grinder, extra RT, virtues ...). The idea behind the TC's on the AH is that they can be purchased with ingame gold to get the upgrades. Not to speculate with it.
Bottomline: if you buy tc's with real life money put them on the AH for as much as you want. You are fully entitled to do so. If you have other intentions like speculating with tc's you bought with gold, than you rape the idea behind tc's. Thats how i see it.
This has nothing to do with market regulation, interfering in the supply & demand chain nor with whining about tc prices. Cause frankly I don't care how much they are, I'll buy them anyway as long as I can afford them, simply because I need them to play the game. I have yet to see the first post where you see me whining about tc prices
And to tyrannius his first post: you might want to inform yourself better before you state something. On top of that I have no idea what the prices i sell epics for or the fact that you are not a reseller have to do with this discussion. This is an idea that corrects a glitch in the game: i.e. TC speculation. Nothing more nothing less.

why not just make TCs soulbound once traded off, you can still move SB'd one within your subbed accounts so I see no problem with it being done this way as a way to curb speculation.

that works as well, but that has more practical issues:
- one playing multiple chars (which is a big feature/asset in nodiatis) will not be able to trade tc's he purchased from the AH (for instance to a new alt he made without making an irl money purchase from that char)
- someone who bought the tc's with gold and all in a sudden wants to buy a new epic/armor/w/e and has not played a lot lately is out of money. well i find it that this guy should be able to re-sell his tc's at the same price he got them

ok granted there is an issue of sharing amongst your chars with that limitation in place though i have never fully explored the trading of SB'd TCs I think the range of chars that could be traded to could include chars linked to email addresses so you could trade to an N alt which has never had a purchase.
If you bought a TCs chances are you used it before you seen that pretty epic you could of bought Murphy's law not mine.

Yeah agreed, but why would you prohibit that you can sell what you've bought, for the same price? I mean the goal is the same, prevent speculation. I just don't see the reason why it should be that strict. But both solutions work.

Jeff give us some input on this issue, let us know if you would even consider something like this.
The Current state of reselling is killing the game for the lower players, buy implementing something like the suggestions here, you are not going to lose any real income, as people will be more willing to buy tc's and trade normally.
Give the people who don't earn alot of money in game or RL to have a chance to be able to play the game to it's full potential.
I use to supply a hell of alot of tc's to the game, but don't bother anymore because of what is currently happening.
Just take 5 minutes and go to chat and see the community and it's thought's, listen to what they have to say, after all they are the people who pay your bills.....

Dont hate me for this, but somehow I see this throughout the lines of every message.
It seems that the only people that commented and are interested in this are already lvl 50/60/70 and been at these lvls for a bit of time now.
Yet nearly everyone is talking about low lvl players that need the tcs. None of those have commented here.
Low lvl players need 1 -2 tcs a month, when lvl 60/70 need 5-10 tcs a week or probably even more ( I dont know, but I regularly see people buying 10 or 20 tcs at once). Mostly for RRT purposes.
There are in-game methods of battling the inflation.
For example,
- actually SELLING YOUR timecards for CHEAP? Maybe not on AH but advertising in chat and sell to normal people.
-participating in some TC strike once started by Menage, which had lots of haters but still it had a fair impact on the community after a week or two tcs dropped by 15-20%.
- creating a list of RE-Sellers, not only TCS but Epic items as well. So everyone knows your *heros*. I know a couple *hint hint*.
Probably there are more methods but its early morning and only these came to mind. There are in game methods of battling this. Asking administration to limit something is a not so good idea.
PS. Yet Zenga's idea about TC being dropped randomly in game is a very good one. Not so good for Nodiatis-money wise, but great for N players only.

Well the whole idea is still based around this:
Epics/rare/w.e. drop ingame, can be crafted, ... I consider them ingame goods as they can not be purchased with irl money.
Time cards do not drop ingame, can not be crafted, etc ... I consider them not ingame goods as they are purchased with irl money. So they should serve the original purpose and albeit not resold.

music, I see you points, and yes those numbers might match.
Look at chat and see how many people complain about the current situation, then look at the amount of people who comment about it on the forums, less then 50%, so i do believe there is a hell of alot of young and older players who do feel the same, they just don't bother about the time to post on forums. ( i use to be like 1 of those people, i would always leave it to others to take care of issues).
Also if the tc's prices were lower and not resold higher i am pretty confident those lower players would be buying more tc's per week instead of monthly as u state.
And about a reseller list, i am all for that list, but the problem is some of the resellers are buying with their real accounts, then selling with alts that nobody knows about so very hard to stop those people.

simple and effective solution:
Jeff should add endless amounts of TC in auction house for a certain price, like a cap. For example 75K, so noone will sell higher than this amount so TC prices wont get any higher.
BUT this will cause Jeff to lose some money i think...
