Compilation of Previously Posted New Skill Ideas (with credits)

As Per Jeff's Request

Disclaimer 1: Some skills I cannot ascertain if they've already been implemented or not because I do not yet know what all the 20+ skills do and no one even knows the names of 40+ skills to even take a stab at guessing their function. So if there's anything in the list that is already implemented then fine, I just didn't know about it.

Disclaimer 2: I will leave it up to Jeff's judgment to decide what skills are "best" instead of biasing them myself. I decided even if a skill isn't a "great" idea, it might be an inspiration to one, so I'm simply including everything.




Section A. New Skills For Existing Skill Spheres

Stats

Learning
---------

Untitled - AT Loss (upon death) Reduction Skill (doctor-warlord)

Enculturement - increases the rate at which Social skills are learned (Somneil)

Prodigious Study - increases your chance to get an XP rush (Somneil)


Weaponry
---------

Thunderous Assault - Gain x% chance to deal double (or triple) damage on your opening blow, but only if you manage to deal the first hit in combat (Somneil)

Critical Revenge - Each level in this skill will increase your chances of counterattacking a critical hit with a critical hit of your own by 0.4% (Somneil)

Bravado of the Healthy - Every level in this skill will increase your attack by x * your player level while your current HP is full. (Somneil)

xxx of the Healthy - Same concept as above but use whatever bonus you think is appropriate. (Somneil)

xxx of the Vigorous - Same concept as above except it applies when Energy is full. (Somneil)

xxx of the Abstinent - Same concept as above except it applies when Mana is full. (Somneil)

Smash - Allows you to use a Shield as a weapon in main hand or offhand. Damage is based on a % of Block skill and a % of Smash skill. The existence of this skill allows for 2H shields. (Somneil)

Heroic Arms (80+ maybe) - Allows you to equip a 2H weapon as if it were a 1H weapon, allowing for combinations like dual 2H weapons/shields, etc. but with some penalty. Dual wielding staves may allow for 2 familiars with Demonology, etc. (Somneil)


Archery
---------

Multi-Hit (PVP/PK/PKK) - hit multiple targets simultaneously (Flashus)


Protection
----------
Phalanx - Increase proficiency with a shield. (Somneil)

Seneschal - Allows you to equip two 1H shields. (dual wield for shield hey that rhymes!) (Somneil)

Mirror Shield - Gain the chance to reflect some magical damage back to opponent if a shield is equipped. (Somneil)

Courage - Every level in this skill will increase your chance by 1% that your HP can be reduced no lower than 1 unless you are hit by magic or a critical attack. (Somneil)

Bulwark of Desperation - Every level in this skill will increase your AC by 0.1 * your player level while your current HP is 10% or less of your total HP. (Somneil)

xxx of Desperation - Same concept as above but use whatever bonus you think is appropriate. (Somneil)


Life Magic
-----------

Savantism - A skill that every 20 points in would give you an extra play slot for gems in battle (Somneil)

Gem Pouch Control - Every 5 points in this skill lets you increase or decrease your gem pouch size by one slot, to a minimum of 5 gem slots. Note that it is impossible to go below 30 gem slots once your pouch reaches it's maximum default size at level 50. (Camli)


Death Magic
------------

Scan/Awareness - Every point in this skill gives a .75% chance to cast scan on the enemy. Scan will allow you to see the enemy's actual amount of hitpoints, mana, and energy. At skill of 100 you will have a 75% chance of successfully scanning your enemy. (Chandra)

Demonology (60+ maybe) - Like petmanship but instead of a pet it lets you equip a "familiar" which deals magical damage instead of physical damage. (Somneil)

(LV20+)

Beastial Instincts - Each level in this skill will increase the number of skills you may gain in the following Instinct skills, for instance if your Beastial Instincts skill level is 3, then the total combined level you can gain in the following three skills may not exceed 3. A whip (or two, if deemed necessary), must be equipped for any of Instinct skills to have effect. (Somneil)

Constance of the Ox - Some kind of HP/Energy related skill. (Somneil)

Vigilance of the Hawk - Some kind of accuracy related skill. (Somneil)

Mentality of the Wolf - Some kind of group bonus skill. (Somneil)

(LV40+)
--------------
Feral Instincts - Same as Beastial Instincts, but different tier and applying to different tier skills below. (Somneil)

Patience of the Crocodile - Deal no damage for a number of turns, but have the hits adding up on a side calculation. After a certain number of turns all of the damage is then dealt in one great strike. Each level in this skill gives x% bonus damage to that strike. (Somneil)

Tenacity of the Wolverine (PK/PKK) - Escape reduction skill. (Somneil)

Heart of the Lion - Each level in this skill increases your chances of being unaffected by fear by 0.5%. Note: stacks with VS Fear skill, potentially giving a Beast Master 100% fear resistance when both reach level 100. (Somneil)

(LV60+)
--------------
Primal Instincts - Same as Beastial Instincts, but different tier and applying to different tier skills below.

Vicissitude of the Dragon - Increase power of a dragon (ultimate attack) pet. (Somneil)

Passion of the Phoenix - Increase power of a phoenix (ultimate healing) pet. (Somneil)


Crafting
---------

Artistry

Resourcefulness
----------------

Soul Harvest - Link Here

Tool Belt - A skill (or item for that matter) that would let us earn extra inventory slots that could ONLY be filled with crafting/resource tools. (Somneil)

Adventure
-------------

Tracking (PK/PKK) - Every 10 levels in this skill lets you view the occupants of more and more zones around you by clicking the zones within the "track radius." Useful for hunting PK's or evading PKK's.

Social
------------
It had been discussed that various group effect skills could be added here, but we haven't gotten into what those effects might be.
