Smile Companions - why they are awesome!

I couldn't sit back and just let this patch get bashed in the main chat channel so i figured I would write about it instead.

Glitchless literally gave pretty much everyone what they wanted when it came to companions.

He added a dust monger for dust collecting, when we complained about dusts.

Mounted, for traveling faster.

quad exp rush chance

hell, he even made one that boosts NON RUSH gold, and gave one that double's GR's!

and ofc can't forget bloodhound for faster tracking, but yes. there are many abilities that these companions give, which are all things that YOU guys asked for. he even got rid of LG sacrifice when complaints were made about it at the last minute.

so for all of you guys that whined about " oh my god, the penalty is too much" or..."they're too expensive!" or " why are they so hard to find?".... "why do they take so many trophies to feed?"... etc.


The point of the companions are development. Nodiatis is a ROLE-PLAYING GAME, which is supposed to be grindy and you are supposed to develop your character. For those of you expecting an easy ride to get level 10 on your companions in just 1 day is unrealistic, and impractical. the penaltys are set in play so that you don't level them up instantly, because that would defeat the purpose of growing bonds with your companions and having them develop with you as well.

They are not objects. they are your companions, treat them as such, and they provide you with bonuses, which takes time. be patient, they will pay off in the future, they are an investment. just like a Gold suit, or virtues, or whatever else.

Anyone can get a companion for a single meat, and a single rose which is 3.5m granted a newer player can't afford it without selling a couple TC's, but at least the option is present.

It's literally one of the best patches we have had in the game because it is completely different from what we are used to seeing. It's almost as different as when LG's were released into the game or pilgrimages. The companions are addicting to find, catch, and of course a great time and gold sink. which the game has needed for quite a while. TC's and mats have flown off the AH shelves due to the gold needed for additional companions and Orchids for dancers. these companions even discourage the OP toons buying tc's and resources from the market to focus on companions.

That being said, why all the complaints? this was a 2.0 patch and its refreshing and gives you something to do besides spend gold on uptiering LG's and instead of killing the same mobs / boss over and over, you can farm somewhere else, and actively hunt for these cool creatures.

I personally find the patch to be very fun and addictive. 10/10 but maybe i just enjoy it because i played Pokemon growing up lol. You go to the store, buy pokeballs ( in this case, orchids or roses) , and try to catch the companions. It really is a good patch, and you can tell there was a lot of effort put into it. Instead of people trying to bash a patch in the first 6 hours, or two days. take the time to actually tell the developer, ' you did good' , or 'thank you.' and try to give the patch a chance and actually enjoy it.

That being said, that's the end of my rant. If you guys enjoyed the patch, give Glitchless your thanks and regards. if you feel like bashing this post, that's fine. Everyone has their own opinion, but try not to be so programmed to knit-pick at every patch because it didn't do exactly what YOU wanted it to do. We the players do make the community for this game, but if Glitch wants to decorate his house a certain color, we must abide by the rule. If not, move elsewhere. but obviously something is being done right for this game to have been around so long and have so many players in a small community willing to support it.

Moral of the story is to just have fun, enjoy the game, thanks to Glitch again for an amazing patch. And just wanted to throw my opinion out there.

Happy hunting! ~ may we see more excitement to refresh us in the future. Siegecraft, Nodiatis story, min dmg lg armors, or whatever else is to come in the years present. thanks for reading

It was a good patch. The bonuses are great and the cost of getting a companion are really not that bad compared to the cost of uptiering any lg or morphing. Its brought a lot of new bonuses to the game that everyone can take advantage of. I'm not a huge fan of the bugs dancing across my screen but they are funny to watch lol

I'll start off by saying I appreciate the effort. I know what it's like to work hard on a project for months. I also know what it's like for people to say your project is flawed, and I know what it's like when you know those criticisms are true.

Acquiring Companions
It's just a boring gold sink. Instead of us breaking LG weapons/shields, we're using Roses and Orchids. The fact that it's a straight lottery, in regards to which one you get, whether or not it's LG, and whether or not your LG is successful, is silly. There is no skill or forethought involved.

Appearance
These things are ugly. There was no reason to make them 3D, and the look doesn't mesh well with the game. A separate tab in the inventory with 2D images would've more than sufficed.

Feeding/Training
It takes several inventories of Faerie Forest trophies to get a few percentage points of happiness. By the second stack of trophies, you're getting nearly 70% exp penalty! Why? Everything seems to just be geared to make levelling as slow as possible and drain as much gold as possible from the economy.

Add to that the fact that you need to catch a dozen to be able to effectively level, and you can see why some people are slightly disappointed with this patch.

Abilities
Besides fliers, all companions do exactly the same stuff. That's boring.

It's definitely not this. And the fact that failures on LGs increase your chances of the next success drastically reduces the RNG component and means that everyone will ultimately end up spending roughly the same when seeking to acquire some large number of LG companions.

And boo hoo that it may be infeasible to get all the companions and max out their abilities in X days, months, years, or ever. Nobody still has a full set of max tier LG weapons and armor either. The fact that you will need to make difficult decisions about which skills to prioritize is precisely what makes their training strategic.

Pointing out that "some people are slightly disappointed with this patch" is practically an endorsement for it. A patch where a quarter of the population isn't going ape**** nuts complaining about how it has ruined the game is well above the threshold for success.

This is a great patch and provides a path to fix make the game more playable. Like walking speed and exp gains. The time it takes for tracking. Overall just a great patch.
