What math is used to calculate how many low tiers it will take to get a high tier? I would like to research it. If you have a formula, tell me if you can.

Ummm it's exponential. It doubles each tier, so the basic formula is total = 2^number of tiers.

You're right, I wrote it out how I usually do it but didn't bother to add the -1 because I do it in a roundabout, retarded way that my statistics teacher would have given me an F for using.

Come to think of it, mine probably would too. I usually start with the base number (1) and multiple it like so:
1x(2^6) then divide by 2 to get r6 <.< don't ask me why
