New Spell Books and Orbs

Once upon a time in a place called Nodiatis there lived many players that for years have cried about missing out on the stats gained by not being able to equip bows or quivers. Well nows the time we can cure all that opening up the benifits of more stats for casters as well as the possibility to create possibility of new unique builds.

The idea/suggestion starts out with equipable items other then bows or quivers more specifically they will be equipable spell books and magic orbs of many differnt types which i will try to explain below, these items will have stats on them as well as possibly some types of processes and will be avalible either as LG or Epic type items or both.

The Magic Orbs: they will all be called magic orbs but will be avalible in many types such as
1. Orb of Mana
2. Orb of Energy
3. Orb of Regeneration
4. Orb of contravention
5. Orb of Agility
6. Orb of Concentration
7. Orb of Intelligence
8. Orb of Strength
9. Orb of Dextarity
or something like that possibly, each having stats or prcesses or both directed at the type of orb they are.

The Spell Books: they will all be called spell books but will be avalible in many types as well much like the orbs, such as
A... a series of Death magic books
1. Red magic
2.Black Magic
etc...
b... a series of life magic books
1. white magic
etc....
or they could be simplified to death magic types and heal magic types and of course would benifit the player in the type magic its labled in stats and processes.

possible processes for orbs could be %Mana reg, %mana added, %to block etc etc
Possible processes for spell books could be like % to healing, % to damage, chance to double cast etc

well i could go on and on about all the possibilites an ways of doing this but i think that gets the general idea out there, and of course these would not be able to be equipped or used with archery.

I like the idea. Of course, casters being the top dogs in Nod is still fresh in a lot of people's minds, but I think if we ignore the people who will inevitably cry about it, we can come up with some good specifics.

I won't lie, I'm a big proponent of healing, so here's my thought on the healing one:

Legendairy Tome of Light
5 mst, 5 pst, 5 dur, 4 mre, 4 pre
Provides a 10% increase to mana/energy and a 3% bonus to heals from gems


Not incredibly op, no more so than any of the bows for sure, but I think it would definitely help compensate for not being able to equip those as a caster, so I agree with this.

I love this idea especially since all the other classes have been buffed lately. As far as spell book goes could even have one that increases damage of all gems but also increases the mana/energy used too.

did you even read and comprehend post? first off casters are nowhere near only ones that can break 2k hits lol and most secondly the idea is for everyone , every class, every type build .. not even close to caster only buff or even hardly a lil caster buff depending on what stats an proceses are decided to be put on them.. might be 50% bonus to pet damage or whip damage so all dps boost for a melee version while a caster version may jus have % to reg mana and some states so no real dps boost.


and if you mean over 2k in stats.. so, isnt it dps an defense that wins? so give casters defense idrc what any particular class gets really .. this isnt a buff me thread its an idea that was ment to be calculated to be fair while letting all builds gain a lil something they lack an open up possibility of more types of builds

Valor this would not be exclusive to magic users. There could be a +25 cnt orb with a book that has +2% to magic resistance as a "set" or agi and parry

It would open up a lot of possibilities for new builds so long as the stat and proc amounts are regulated so as to not make one class super OP but enough to give people options other than cookie cutting each other.

It would take some coding but it could be done

Orbs = quivers and books = bows

They give a bonus to stats (not exclusive to caster but like 1 orb per stat) and a proc (can be included with the stat or on the opposite piece) so we could get an Orb of Agility that adds +25 to agility and then a Tome of Speed that lowers the opponents chance to hit as an example

I understand that, but still staff users will benefit from it a lot more than others, because others already have some gear equipped in those slots. And there are many skills (Tunnel Vision for one) that work with staves to compensate lack of gear in archery slots. A person can be immune to gems 100% but not melee 100%, that is the advantage they have over magic users. There was what? 1-2 teams in the top 10, that did not have 1 caster (with most having 2x casters). At this time its almost a requirement to take advantage of reg, or having casters to make it in the top 10. With the new AoE gems for melee this may change. I simply don't see the need for casters to get a big buff. I see and understand that this would be beneficial for every toon, however, giving casters even more stats.... it simply scares me what it would do to pvp. In my eyes, casters would not take advantage of these books/orbs/wands to get 2k cnc.... they would likely keep what they already have ( most i see 800+) instead, they would run around with even more DEF and reg. Most of the regener casters i see ( like MA, cyress) that take advantage of reg have ~250-350. Give them something that would boost what dmg they take with the procs that have been mentioned would let them take dmg, add likely 150+ reg... they could become very similar to someone like usaeagle who takes forever to kill, while throwing around gems that do massive dmg.

I simply dont see why casters need a big buff like this (again, yes it would partly buff anyone who wanted to take advantage of these proposed items). The option for more builds, with new procs would be exciting, i simply dont think they should have any stats equipped to them.

Give them some sort of proc, either some of the existing procs, or something we haven't seen yet. Make it not just for casters, would let all toons have unique options available. Trying to find a right balance would be difficult. To make it worth while for melee toons and casters alike would be difficult. I just think more stats + more procs for casters ( and all at a smaller benefit) would be too much considering they are currently one of the most used type of toons in arena.

Are you now advising everyone to fill their pouches with prevent and anti-magic gems? The vast majority of players rely on cnt and anti-magic skills to resist magic (and maybe resist auras), because they use their pouches for other purposes and can't change their builds like that. Some use offensive pouch, some use healing gems. And for all of these people, the opponent caster's cnc matters.

Staff users already have higher magic stats than anyone else has defense or melee stats. They also have skills that only work with staves as a big advantage. Allowing them to equip new gear in archery slots will be overkill. And it will be even an indirect archer nerf, because archers need their bows and quivers and can't use those orb or tomes.

guess i just dont understand your facination with high stats magic or otherwise, idc if someone has 30,000 magic stats if there dps cant exceed other builds its just the same as having 1,000 and regaurdless what big number anyone has in anything the fact remains that casters are not as oped as alot nowdays but again why does this keep being brought up as a caster buff. its like some have there blinders on and just dont want to consider anything that might change things at all in nod .

anyhow im not going to keep beaiting this same topic to death , everyone has there opinion.. i have mine an you have yours which is fine, this wasnt intended to ever be a lets argue bout every reason we can think of not to add things to nod that might add some change or deversity to builds and possibly get nod away from all having the same old time wastin belly button/ cookie cutter build.
