It's not a stereotype. People our age make significantly less than the average person. There is obviously some exceptions like you pointed out but unless you make around 6 figs a year you aint make nearly as much as the average person. I know 6 figs is not the average or near the average but the average middle aged person who is employed full time should make around that with a good college degree.
And to the point about the parents that isnt that uncommon. I hear about a bunch of parents/middle aged people who only have 2 year degrees or only a high school education. So you can easily be more qualified and educated than them. We are a smarter generation also i would add atleast for computers which alot of jobs require computers.

Because the increase in the number of people like Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking clearly supports you assumption.
It's more like, we have the opportunities the generations before us didn't.

ok first people wanted averages. now you are pointing out one of the greatest minds of all time to support your cause even though you know his generation was filled with idiots (compared to us now)
Yes you are correct that we have far more oppurtunities than previous generations but with these oppurtunities we know more. So one leads to another
And we have tons of smart people in today's society but our culture tends to focus more on celebrities than actual news so it is harder to find out about them. I just said we are smarter because i know that my parents and their friends cant figure out how to work a computer to save their life.

That has to be one of the most stupid, ill-informed comments that I have seen in these forums.
Just because they can't 'work out' how to use a computer, does not mean they are thick, or badly-educated. My father, for example. ran a very successful business from the 1960s until he retired, about 5 years ago, due to ill-health. His net worth now ... probably £10-15 million (UK pounds). Myself, I didn't want to go into the family business, as my passion is science. But, all of his kids (4 of us) are graduates, all of us (partly by our own work, partly through him) own our homes outright.
And yet, he has absolutely no idea on how to work his lovely shiny laptop. According to you, that makes him to be some sort of dimwit.
The only dimwit here, however, is a person who can be so stupidly patronising.
Oh, and his grammar, and sentence construction (when he does eventually manage to open Word) far outweighs anything that I have had the misfortune to read that you have posted, Paster.
So, if being intelligent (according to you) means the ability to use a computer, but not being able to spell, or punctuate, or even to carry on a reasoned discussion, then I will happily leave you to your undoubted genius.

I'll agree with ^
My girls mother works in a hospital as an IT personnel, and has her strong points on me when it comes to PC's. And her father is one hell of a carpenter.
I just so happen to get a great opportunity, I never went to college.. hell I didn't even graduate highschool. But if you want someone to build a boiler, or read some intricate blueprint for structural steel and then get started on building it. I'm your guy! Hell I can even do some C++ and such
But I guess I'm just some dumbass, because I have a GED..

I quit for the most part or you can call it a long hiatus where my RRT meter is full and I simply dont use any of it but log on every now and then just to afk. I have 1 week left before my premium runs out and I won't renew it.
All in all, if the game is to grow then the current content needs to be adjusted so that more than just a tiny fraction of the customers/players are happy.
There is no point in adding new content when the old content isn't meeting customer needs and this fact isn't being overlooked by creators/management, it is being ignored. I really do not like playing a game and logging on every day with a sigh and then hoping to see changes that fix the games current content. I've decided to simply check in every now and then and see if management has changed their game plan....the game is fun so I hope they do but I'm not holding my breath either.

im gonna side with paster on this one computer illiteracy can cause you to actually lose many a job in the current times and will make you make less money (thats what i got from his posts) so the current students would be making more money than their parents (also partially contributed to the lowering of the price of a dollar)

Correct I didn't bother to read anything you said really because after seeing how you basically stereo-typed me for how I looked/how old I looked, people such as yourself are what I like to consider ignorant.
And yea whoopiedoo my Dad never finished college but he was a succesful real estate investor and actually built houses on empty lots he bought and sold them but he cant even Copy and Paste does that make him stupid? I said no but does it make him stupid with a computer? Yes
I have no comments here either, maybe you are the one who needs to read back and look at what we we're actually commenting before you come up with another halfbaked remark <points at the quote in Roeth's post>
You are making it sound like i think everyone who isnt young is stupid which i dont believe just that every generation improves on the previous which is what i am pointing out. But apparently on the major accomplishments and changes during the years werent improving anything or proving we get smarter as the family trees grow
Because from reading what little you wrote that is how we took it, and its not a stereo-type? Then what would you call if I do happen to make (on a good year) 6 figures? Here's the thing I hate about college students, you think it's the way of life when it really isn't. You can't take those statistics, such as "48k as the average income" and use them as truth when they are flawed statistics.. It's the same as saying that WOW is failing because they have a decrease in UNIQUE visitors.. When in all actuality you cannot compare this game to WOW. And again those statistics are garbage, but somewhere along the line someone convinced you to live by numbers and books.. instead of using your own head and figuring things out
So really, we maybe getting more booksmart..But thanks to the values that the people who were booksmart back when our parents were paving the way for us (who are teachers etc and really amount to nothing without MORE students) who used numbers etc aren't really worth the six figures they make. Where is guys like Bill Gates and the Apple dude went to school etc but I do believe the made the first personal computer before graduating..? So keep living by the numbers and statistics when you graduate and can't find a job maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about.. other than that I can't really say much to you because your simply to stubborn, or I'm too stoned to put it into words that you can understand.
Also i didnt know i enrolled in an online English course you prick where do i send my tuition?
Lol, he was abit out of line there.. will admit
but apparently i am stupid cause i dont wanna treat the internet like i am writing an essay for english class

lol, also don't steal my lines!

Paster sorry to burst your bubble here. I am a supervisior in my job and I am on about the average wage that people are qouting. but out of the 8 supervisiors at work only 2 of us are.
I am middle aged and most of my friends colleauges are on below the national average.
As for the smarter generation; the reason it is called the smarter generation is because more of you are going on to higher education. Don't be fooled by the government rhethoric. Start from the top of the employment ladder and work down (Your countries leader and so on) there are only a few jobs above the national wage. Since the banking collapse these have become less.
Can u see were I am going with this. People with a higher education are not fighting for just the top jobs anymore but for the middle to lower income jobs as well.
Over the years of working in casinos I have worked with Nuclear Physicists and Criminologists just to name a few.
I am not having a go at you Paster but just sharing my experience (wisdom) here in the UK. Hopefully I am wrong as far as your own country is concered.
My last point though. Why do you think our governments want more youngsters in higher education.
Two reasons:-
1. There is not enough work out there for all.
2. If in college a person is not counted as unemployed or able to claim benefits (unless doing under an allocated period of time).
Dang that took too long going too log on now, LOL
